Who We ArePrincipalsKevin Boru Ph.D., Founder and Managing Editor Dr. Kevin Boru is the founder and Editing Director of the Company. Since 1988 he and colleagues under his direction have have edited over a thousand biomedical and scientific papers which have been published in essentially all the major journals ranging across the spectrum of fields, from genomics and proteomics through cell biology, immunology, and all aspects of the drug discovery process. He has also given seminars and led training sessions for non-native English speaking scientists to learn not only how to publish in English but also how to engage in the give-and-take of presentation and debate. He has collaborated on science writing projects with a number of the best known biomedical labs in the world today. He is currently engaged in producing a book on the subject of the role of English in shaping the biomedical research process. Dr. Boru also spent more than eleven years in the international Pharmaceutical Industry, including R&D, the selection and implementation of in-house projects, multinational company-university collaborations, product development, licensing, negotiation and related topics. Darin De Stefano, Partner and Administrative Manager Mr. De Stefano was central in assembling and managing Pacific Edit’s business infrastructure. He has worked for 15 years as a systems analyst and designer, publisher and editor. He engineered the current business systems and manages day-to-day operations as he has since 2004. The editors at Pacific Edit will edit, polish, and rewrite any type of document in any field related to biomedical science. All editors are Ph.D. scientists with considerable experience in the writing and editing of manuscripts submitted for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Why We Are Different
Pacific Edit is a unique editing company in terms of our scientific expertise and experience working with non-native English speaking researchers publishing work in top-tier, high-impact biomedical journals. The difference between having a scientist and a non-scientist as one’s editor makes all the difference in the world. The non-scientist editor is lost in the “Materials and Methods” technical sections of research papers, for example. And without an understanding of experimental constraints, there is little chance of understanding the experimental results, to say nothing of the larger context in which the experimental narrative is being put forward.
